Stock Checks:

Inventory is a fluid commodity.  It changes by the hour (sometimes by the minute). To retain our pricing structure we maintain stock levels designed to turnover 6 times each year. We cannot guarantee stock status till we have an order in hand. All product is subject to prior sale. If we confirm that we have it, and, while we are waiting for the order it sells, you would be upset that we did not hold it.
We used to hold items but learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson. When we held items for customers’ orders, the order never materialized 80%+ of the time.  We lost out on the orders placed while the item was on hold.  Also we wasted staff time that could have been used to pull actual orders.
Since we are well known for finding older stock the fact that it may not be on our shelves at this minute does not mean we can’t get it. So, as we spell out on our terms pages, we don’t do it anymore. You may, however, call in and we will tell you if the items are available and if possible attempt to locate what we don’t have while you are on the phone.

July 10 -- Kato is announcing two new model trains sets.  The F& Freight Trains Sets in Santa Fe and Union Pacific are equipped with one locomotive and four pieces of rolling stock.  These sets are due out in November, just in time for Christmas!! June 27 -- A few thoughts on the 2010 NSC 

• We were really impressed by the NSC Special runs.
• The Banquet car while once again not being a prototype car, could easily pass for one. 
• Unfortunately only 5 manufacturers made the rounds of the various meeting rooms to to chat with dealers.   Thanks Walthers, Athearn, N-Scale Architect, Fox Valley and the trio of Jim H., Fred H., and Doug H. from the convention committee. 
• We received more positive comments than at any other show we've participated in. 
• Something like 5 people walked into the Pecan Room and their first words were "N-Scale Nirvana!"
• One gentleman told me that we performed a "Cashectomy on his wallet."  He went on to say he couldn't be happier since he had tried all the local and many web stores only to find that none ordered what he was looking for. 
• At least 15 people stated they had never seen so much N at any store. 
• Not enough locals attended the convention or the 'show' on Saturday.  Most that did stated that they would not have known had it not been for our postings on our website and our magazine ads.

June 27 -- We got to the motel @ just about 12:01a.m. and will be off in the morning AQAP after about 6 hrs sleep, a shower, and breakfast.  Home to the shop by 7:00p.m. and in bed as soon as possible this was one of the most challenging NSC's we've done except for San Diego. 

June 27 -- Well So much for that dream!  We worked packing and loading till 3:00a.m. this morning and got back at it @ 7:00a.m. after a bit o' sleep.  As soon as the trailer and truck are loaded we'll get a shower and some breakfast and head off home.  ... ... ... ...

it's now 2:00pm here in Houston and we are loaded, showered (we rerally needed it and just have to find a Shipley (they closed in Albuq.) and something to eat and we're off to our first stop of the trip home some 10 hours from here.  The M-TL announcements will have to wait for the crew to come in on Tuesday.

June 26 -- Well it's 3:00pm here in Houston and while the show is closed we have a couple of customers that showed up at 2:45pm who also showed up last night at 10:45pm and kept us here past 12:45am so we will get packed up as quickly as possible and if we can get out by 10:00pm hopefully George can post the rest of the July announcements

A Note on Stock Status:
Not all items can be in stock at all times. Due to minimum order requirements from manufacturers and distributors and shipping charges, we "bunch" up re-orders to save you money. Sometimes it takes longer, but we can continue to offer the item at a substantial discount that way.

Confused about Reservations?
Please consider that this is the way we pay the bills and put food on the table. Taking pre-orders allows us to order enough to cover known demand. We attempt to gauge (ok, guess) how many will be ordered after the order deadline plus allow us to have the item in stock for 45-60 days after shipment by the manufacturer.
Sometimes we get it right and sometimes we don't. Occasionally, when an item is not likely to be produced again (D&RGW H-15-44s for example) we order beyond our guess to have a few for longer than that.
