For over sixty
years, Northeastern Scale Models, Inc. has been providing
model building materials for architects, model railroaders,
miniaturists and other hobbyists. Several years ago,
we pioneered the introduction of laser-cut wood kits for
model railroaders and dollhouse miniaturists.
Originally Northeastern Scale Models started
in Methuen, MA in 1946 by the now-deceased James Doyle. In
the fall of 2001, we moved the laser-cutting portion of the
business to our new facility in northern California. Additionally,
we sold the model building materials portion of the business
to Northeastern Scale Lumber Co. They continue to manufacture
wood stripwood, sheetwood, structural shapes, siding and
miniature moldings in Methuen, Massachusetts.

One of the most common designs for a locomotive coaling

for branchline use. The customer for this particular unit was
the Milwaukee Road. This intricate design makes for easy construction
due to our advanced laser-cutting process. |

This kit was our first "Signature Series" kit, and it remains
one of our most popular kits today. These three structures combine

Part #: NESM-10109 Sam Cahoon's Fish Pier - Footprint approximately 6" x 7"
Click
on photo to see large version.
This is our second kit in the "Signature Series", an original
model built by Dave Frary. "Sam Cahoon's" is modeled after a
1920's photo, typical of buildings found on a New England waterfront.
These buildings served several purposes: ice house, wholesale
and retail fish dealer, and storage for gill nets. Definitely
one of our more unique models, offering a challenge for the serious
modeler.

Stock Checks:
Inventory is a fluid commodity. It changes by the
hour (sometimes by the minute). To retain our pricing structure
we maintain stock levels designed to turnover 6 times each
year. We cannot guarantee stock status till we have an order
in hand. All product is subject to prior sale. If we confirm
that we have it, and, while we are waiting for the order
it sells, you would be upset that we did not hold it.
We used to hold items but learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson.
When we held items for customers’ orders, the order
never materialized 80%+ of the time. We lost out on
the orders placed while the item was on hold. Also
we wasted staff time that could have been used to pull actual
orders.
Since we are well known for finding older stock the fact
that it may not be on our shelves at this minute does not
mean we can’t get it. So, as we spell out on our terms
pages, we don’t do it anymore. You may, however, call in and we will tell you if the items
are available and if possible attempt to locate what we
don’t have while you are on the phone. |
