M-TL
in the first 1-2 days of the month.
Occasionally M-TL allocates orders and even when we
order additional quantities beyound our Auto-Ship quantities
on the first day of orders at 7:00am we do not receive
all we ordered.
If this happens this month, we may be forced to allocate
to our reservations based
on timing of the reserve and if the customer is requesting
multiple copies of the item. |

USS
Saratoga served valiantly with the Pacific
Fleet in World War II before aiding British
forces in the Far East
and Indian Ocean. Afterward, she was involved
with training for night combat before becoming
involved with the
attack on Iwo Jima. After the Japanese
surrender, the Saratoga transported 29,204 Pacific
war
veterans home. She
was later assigned to Operation Crossroads
at Bikini Atoll to test the effect of the atomic
bomb on naval
vessels. USS Saratoga was struck from
the Navy list on 15 August 1946. |

This
UP synthetic red 40’ drop bottom gondola
has large white “Union Pacific” letters,
white stenciling and runs on brown Bettendorf
trucks. This car was built in June of
1951 by General American Transportation Corp.
(GATC)
located in Chicago,
IL. Part of the post-war rebuilding program,
UP ordered 1000 gondolas to be built by GATC, and
some of these hard working cars survived into the
1980s.

red lettering. It rides on new
dark brown Barber® roller bearing
trucks. New built date is 11-72
and rebuilt date
is 11-07. To date,
Micro-Trains has tooled 106 N scale body styles with over
300
road names.

This
orange scale test car has black lettering
and runs on black trucks. Since the
railroads’ revenues
were dependent on
the correct measurement of loaded cars, great
emphasis was placed on proper maintenance of
the scales. Charged with
the responsibility of keeping all the track,
truck, baggage and freight scales on their respective
lines in perfect condition,
the scale inspector’s arrival
was often preceded by the appearance of the small
scale test car. The scale test
cars were always to be hauled just in front of
the caboose. Immediately upon arrival at
the terminal, they were set
aside and subjected to a minimum of switching.
Under no circumstances were they to be
used in switching other cars in the train.

40’ outside braced box car with single
door and freight load is painted box car
red with CV “wet noodle”
logo, large “Central Vermont,” and
lettering, all in white. The car was built
in December 1924 and serviced in June
1964. It runs on black Andrews trucks.
In June 1964, paint schemes on the Central Vermont
were simple and generally
followed Canadian National lettering styles. After
1960, the CV “wet noodle” was
applied to the doors of some box cars.

British Columbia. It wears the “Red
Cedar shingles and shakes” paint scheme. It was later
painted a bicentennial scheme in honor of the
U.S.A.’s
200th birthday. |
