This 40’ Standard Box Car with plug door is Car #47 of a 50-car series representing each of the 50 states in the union. It bears the Scissor-tailed Flycatcher and Mistletoe flower, Oklahoma’s official state bird and flower. The flag of the state of Oklahoma is in the background. The road number 1907 represents the year ‘The Sooner State’ was admitted into the union.

50’ Standard Box Car, Plug Door, w/o Roofwalk
P/N: 038 00 405

The USS Salem was built at Bethlehem Steel in Quincy and served in the US Navy from 14 May 1949 to 30 January 1959.  For much of that time she served as the flagship of the US 6th Fleet, and made port visits all around the Mediterranean.  She made a total of seven deployments to the Mediterranean as the flagship of the 6th Fleet, alternating with the Des Moines and Newport News.  In 1959 she joined the reserve fleet and remained in the mothball fleet until 1994.  She’s now the centerpiece of the United States Naval Shipbuilding Museum.

Built in December 1941, A&WP 37302 is one of forty 40-foot 1937 A.A.R. boxcars from the 37300-37339 series built by Pullman-Standard.

This light grey Evans (oops misprint- collectible alert!) 100 ton 3-bay covered hopper has elongated hatches large PRR Keystone logo, black lettering and runs on black Barber® roller bearing trucks. Built for PRR in April 1965 at ACF’s Huntington plant from an order of 20 on Lot #11-02339, these hoppers were numbered into PRR series 260706-260725. These twenty (20) lined cars classed H-45A were intended for food shipments. The series was soon expanded to 260706-260775.

This 40’ Hy-Cube boxcar is painted SP Brown with white lettering and Hydra-Cushion logo. The ends are painted with the ‘Excess Height’ end marks. It was rebuilt in January 1965 and serviced that same year. It runs on roller bearing trucks. The sub-series 659008-659047 is equipped with DF-2 loaders and assigned to unique appliance loading.

This boxcar red 50' standard boxcar with double Youngstown doors displays large white “Spokane Portland and Seattle” lettering with the “Spokane Portland and Seattle Ry” oval logo and runs on black Bettendorf trucks. Financed by the GN and NP, the SP&S Railway was incorporated in 1908. Tracks went from Portland to Pasco via the northern bank of the Columbia, and thence along the edge of the Coulees and the Palouse to Spokane along the north bank of the Columbia River. Traffic throughout the lifetime of the road was mostly grain west, lumber east. The road that was known "The Northwest's Own Railway" ended at BN's birth.

This black 50’ flat car with fishbelly side and side mount brakewheel displays large white “Norfolk and Western” lettering and runs on black Bettendorf trucks. In 1870 the AM&O was organized from the merging together of 3 railroads: the Norfolk & Petersburg, Southside Railroad, and Virginia & Tennessee. In 1881, the AM&O was purchased by the Clarks from Philadelphia and the headquarters were moved to a city called Big Lick, soon renamed Roanoke. At that time, the AM&O was renamed Norfolk and Western. The Norfolk & Western's corporate existence ended as it was merged into Norfolk Southern Corporation.

This 50’ box car with plug door is painted dark green with white lettering and the black, red and white “Burlington Route” logo. It was built in December 1961 in Havelock, Nebraska, and runs on roller bearing trucks. This car is classified as an RBL refrigerator car even though it doesn’t have any ice bunkers or other “refrigerator car” appliances. To differentiate this reefer from the ice-cooled reefers, CB&Q designed this RBL paint scheme, yellow and black horizontal band on a dark green body. White lettering includes the slogans “Everywhere West” and “Way of the Zephyrs”, each on opposite sides of car.
