union. It bears the Mockingbird and Magnolia flower, Mississippi’s

is in the background. The road number 1817 represents the
year ‘The Magnolia State’ was admitted into the union.

This ATSF red 40’ hy-cube box car with single door has black
roof and ends displays the “Circle Shock” and “Shock Control”
logos in white with white lettering and runs on black roller
bearing trucks. These 40’ hy-cubes were built by Transco for
the Santa Fe in March of 1967. This series, 14000-14068, is
equipped with DF loaders and rated at 4990 cubic feet capacity.
These excess height cars were assigned to appliance loading
on the Penn Central and have white end paint to call attention
to their excess height.

at the dawn of the 20th Century, these disconnects were the
backbone of a number of standard and narrow gauge railroads
throughout the Western United States. Our model represents
an all steel version equipped with Hercules Logging Bunks
that swivel as the prototype does. The resin log load is secured
with scale brass tie down chain. The model also features Magne-Matic
couplers on both ends of each car as was prototypical.

This red 39’ single dome tank has white lettering, white ‘Mobilgas’
logo and runs on black Bettendorf trucks. Originally built
in 1926, and shopped in August of 1947, WSRX 228 is wearing
the red Mobilgas paint scheme. WSRX were the reporting marks
for Socony-Vacuum Oil Co. Inc., from 1938 through 1947. In
1931, Socony Oil, a spin off from the 1911 breakup of the
Standard Oil Trust, merged with Vacuum Oil. In 1955, Socony-Vacuum
became Socony Mobil Oil Co. and in 1966, simply Mobil Oil
Corp. A decade later, the newly incorporated Mobil Corporation
absorbed Mobil Oil as a wholly owned subsidiary.

Built in September 1976, 200 ‘Rapid Discharge’ hoppers were
stenciled with the “Ches-C” logo designed by Franklin Carr
and numbered into the 45000-45299 series. H-61 class 3-bay
Ortners are rated at 100 tons, fall within ‘Plate C’ clearances
and can hold 2,100 cu. ft. level full. The H-61 Ortners often
served the Chessie as unit train limestone haulers in their
Virginia Rock Runner trains. The ‘Rapid Discharge’ design
self-clears through the rails within 30 seconds and is perfect
for carrying heavy aggregate.

gear lid. Built by FMC at Portland, OR, this car was probably
used for transporting wood and paper products. Apalachicola
Northern Railroad headquarters was located in Port St. Joe,
FL. The Apalachicola Northern was incorporated in 1903 and
was purchased by the St. Joe Paper Co. in 1914.

This black 40’ flat car has a brown floor, yellow lettering

216082 was built in February 1930 by Bethlehem Steel and
numbered into the 216000-216099 series. In January 1973
the F-2 series was serviced at Raceland Shops and stenciled
with the “Ches-C” logo designed by Franklin Carr for the
“Chessie System”. The F-2 class was 42’11” in length, 10’
2” extreme width, 5’ 3” extreme height and had wood decks.

oxide red 39’ single dome tank car has white lettering and
runs on black Bettendorf trucks. This tank car, for water
service only, was used on special projects or gang service
“Maintenance of Way.” Milwaukee was sold to the Soo Line in
the early 1980’s and was seen on the Wisconsin Line in 1990.
This interesting tank car lists its carrying capacity at 11,000
lbs. and a “Maintenance of Way” service date of December 1977.

This 30’ refrigerator car is box car red with yellow sides
and runs on brown Bettendorf trucks. Originally built for
the Colorado and Southern as series 500-519 in 1909, these
cars were repainted and renumbered in 1912, and received this
circular trademark paint scheme beginning in 1927. Three cars
1113, 1116 and 1108 were sold to Rio Grande Southern in 1938
and renumbered RGS 2101, 2102, 2103.

light box car red 30’ box car runs on brown Barber Coleman
Archbar trucks. The Austin & North Western began as
a narrow gauge line in 1881 running from Austin, TX, to
Burnet, TX. The real push for building the line came when
officials decided to build the state capital (at Austin)
with pink granite, which was acquired at Marble Falls. On
May 2, 1882, the line opened for service from Austin to
Burnet. Then in May 1888, the line was completed to Marble
Falls. In 1891, before the standard gauge conversion, the
A&NW had a fleet of 41 box cars
