50' Gondola, Fishbelly Sides & Drop Ends
Road Number: LV 33350
This 50’ gondola with fishbelly sides and drop ends is painted dark box
car red and runs on black roller bearing trucks. It was built in January 1952,
by Bethlehem Steel Co. at Johnstown PA. It was named Lehigh Valley in 1853 when

Route of the Black Diamond’. The LV grew as a major Class I railroad linking
the port of New York with Buffalo and Niagara Falls until the early 50’s.
The railroad fell into financial hardship as a result of the loss of passenger
service and the new NY State Thruway took away much of the freight business with
trucking.
