Note:
The January, February & March 2005 Micro-Trains releases
were severely limited and most ran out
at M-TL in the first 10 days of the month.
To our knowledge all the large dealers were allocated product
less than ordered. If this happens again we may
be forced to allocate to our reservations based on timing
of the reserve and if the customer is requesting
multple copies of the item. In January some people ordered
as many as 5 sets of the military cars. |

National
Road Number CN 446220
This
box car red 40’ standard box car with single Youngstown
door and no roofwalk has large white “Canada Manitoba”
and buffalo with white lettering and runs on black Bettendorf
trucks. These “Buffalo Boxcars” were used to haul
grain to Churchill and Thunder Bay, Manitoba. Originally built
as newsprint cars, they were converted in 1987-88 to carry
grain under a program financed by the Canadian and Manitoba
governments. CN discontinued use of these boxcars in 1996
after successfully using hoppers for grain service on the
line, which crosses soggy muskeg (bogs) and numerous wooden
trestles and had previously banned the use of the heavy hoppers.

NEW
RELEASE
Great Northern
Road Number GN 7127
This 40’ standard box car with plug door is painted
GN ‘Big Sky Blue’ with white lettering, white
circle ‘Rocky’ herald and runs on black Bettendorf
truck. A public relation firm was hired by the RR to review
the image of the company and to develop recommendations to
improve/modernize the corporate image. This new paint scheme
was the one selected as a way to present the company as more
progressive. Between 1976-1970 ‘BSB’ was painted
on all new and rebuilt cars. The cars were classified XL which
signify that the cars were considered special equipment: containing
Evans DF-2 loaders, which retained the load in transit.
