Cotton Belt
Road Number SLSW 923 & 913 MSRP $205.50 OUR PRICE $154.13

Adorned in the classic “Black Widow” scheme made famous by its parent company, Southern Pacific, the Cotton Belt was the Eastern extension of the West Coast road. The Black Widow scheme consisted of a black body with silver, orange and red nose. A red stripe wrapped around the bottom of the nose and ran the length of the engine. Cotton Belt logos and side lettering were retained in lieu of SP markings. This scheme evolved, as did the physical appearance of the FT. Later in their careers they took on F style side grills and large number boards and had their lighted side number boards plated over.

Reading
Road Number RDG 250 & 253 MSRP 206.25 OUR PRICE $154.69
Hauling loads of anthracite coal from mine operations deep in Pennsylvania as well as long strings of freight, the green and gold striped midnight black FT’s helped Reading handle the increased load of Wartime traffic. Lashed in A-B-B-A units, the FT plied the rails in places like the Catawissa Branch eliminating much of the costly helper service that was cutting into the company’s bottom line. Reading bought 20 units that served the line until they were fazed out of service for GP-30’s by 1964.
