Passenger Car Release -- 2007 Information —

ACF Industries Photo, Ed Hawkins Collection.
Union Pacific passenger trains remain among the best loved of all lightweight passenger trains. Even today, the Union Pacific Historic Fleet, used for company business as well as special excursions, continues the long tradition of yellow and gray passenger trains.

Model Features —
Two different car sets decorated in Union Pacific colors create a complete train.

Dealer's note: At one time we understood these could be done with modern road number/car names.
Hopefully this wil be answered soon.

All cars have accurate detail and painting and are equipped with Kato Magnetic Knuckle Couplers. Blackened metal wheels with all-wheel electrical pickup for optional lighting kits (sold separately) provide smooth operation.

These passenger cars may also be used with the Union Pacific F3 Locomotives released by Kato in 2004, 2006 & 2007.

First (2005) Release
City Series Release -- 2005 Prototype Information —
"Streamliners" were operated by Union Pacific, Chicago & North Western, and Southern Pacific with some equipment "pooling" with Wabash and other railroads. The most famous trains were the City of Los Angeles and the City of San Francisco, departing from Chicago, IL for the West. Additional trains were known as the City of Portland and the City of St. Louis.
The biggest partners, UP and C&NW, advertised "Route of the Streamliners" on their box cars. In essence, each of the partner railroads "owned" portions of the train; they were true partners, not simply connecting railroads.

ACF Industries Photo, Ed Hawkins Collection.
Today, these trains remain among the best remembered of all postwar lightweight passenger trains. Even today, the Union Pacific Historic Fleet, used for company business as well as special excursions, continues the long tradition of yellow and gray passenger trains.

Model Features —
Three different car sets decorated in Union Pacific colors create a complete 12-car train without duplication of cars. Some cars are lettered for railroads that "pooled" the cars with Union Pacific.
All cars have accurate detail and painting and are equipped with Kato Magnetic Knuckle Couplers. Blackened metal wheels with all-wheel electrical pickup for optional lighting kits (sold separately) provide smooth operation.

These passenger cars are ideal for use with the Union Pacific F3 Locomotives released by Kato in 2004, 2006 & 2007.
