| Japanese 205 Series
KATO TRAIN |
Product Information —
KATO Precision Railroad Models is extremely proud to announce the upcoming
production of a specially planned N scale "KATO Train." This
multi-car set is sure to be a big hit with Kato supporters and collectors.
For prototype modelers, this model set will have a very special heritage.
In November 2003, the actual KATO Train will run
publicly on the JR East Saikyo Line in Tokyo. This
route was chosen because of its geographical relevance,
traveling from Tokyo (site of the Kato headquarters and
Hobby Center Kato) to Saitama (site of the Kato factory).
Another factor for the choice of this line is because the
traditional green stripe used on the Series 205 railcars
closely matches the green color commonly recognized as "Kato
green" by modelers and rail enthusiasts. The
cars will be adorned with several Kato signs while operating,
in an effort for increasing the general public's awareness
and interest of model railroading in general and specifically
with Kato.

Like the prototype, the models will be silver with green
stripes and Kato signs. Color photographs of the standard
Series 205 railcar models, as well as a diagram of the
arrangement of cars in the prototype consist, can be
seen on page 35 of our #25-000 Japanese Model Railroad
Catalog. The head-end cars feature directional headlights
and one of the cars of the set includes a lifting (non-operating)
pantograph. These cars are equipped with the #11-703
Kato Type A Coupler, a snap-together coupler with MU
hose detail. The interior of the individual cars can
be lighted with the optional installation of the #11-204
Single or #11-206 6-pack Lighting Kits (sold separately).
