Prototype
Information:
- Intermodal Container service is one of the
most popular types of freight service on the rails today.
- As a result of its versatility and design, the Maxi-IV car
is a mainstay of the U.S. domestic double-stack car fleet.
- BNSF took delivery of their first MAXI-IV's in 2000. Ongoing
deliveries of this car have put the total in service on the BNSF roster in the thousands.
- They can be seen on virtually any mainline railroad from
coast to coast.
- The Maxi-IV design provies a balance between tare weight and
capacity and have proven to be extremely reliable when loaded properly.
- The Gunderson MAXI-IV is a 3-unit articulated double-stack car
that can handle containers from 20' to 53' long in the well
and from 40' to 57' in the top, or double-stacked position.

Model Features:
- The model will feature a metal injection-molded
frame for improved traction coupled with extensive piping
detail added.
- Like the prototype, the model will feature
2 different sized wheels: the end trucks will have 33" scale
wheels while the middle trucks will have 38" scale wheels.
- Shock absorber construction will provide smooth operation.
- The KatO Kinematic trucks will maintain prototypical
appearance on straight track and provide smooth operation
through curved sections.
- Cars will feature magnetic knuckle couplers.
- Each set will include 6 indivually numbered 53' containers.
- Packaging designed for the separated storage of the articulated unit providing ease and security when
not in use.
- Cars are Pacer Blue, BNSF Mineral Red w/White Lettering or TTX Yellow.

Stock Checks:
Inventory is a fluid commodity. It changes by the
hour (sometimes by the minute). To retain our pricing structure
we maintain stock levels designed to turnover 6 times each
year. We cannot guarantee stock status till we have an order
in hand. All product is subject to prior sale. If we confirm
that we have it, and, while we are waiting for the order
it sells, you would be upset that we did not hold it.
We used to hold items but learned a VERY EXPENSIVE lesson.
When we held items for customers’ orders, the order
never materialized 80%+ of the time. We lost out on
the orders placed while the item was on hold. Also
we wasted staff time that could have been used to pull actual
orders.
Since we are well known for finding older stock the fact
that it may not be on our shelves at this minute does not
mean we can’t get it. So, as we spell out on our terms
pages, we don’t do it anymore. You may, however, call in and we will tell you if the items
are available and if possible attempt to locate what we
don’t have while you are on the phone. |
